Final Numbers required by 26th October: e-mail me direct or on the e-mail below.
October: Final preparations now underway. The venue would like to know the numbers by the end of the month so if you are still thinking about coming do let me know. Remember the dress code is not strict so if you haven't managed to source any costume come in your modern day finery ready for fun and dancing to both the ceilidh and swing bands.
September: I have been making my own dress, recycling my original wedding dress by just changing the bodice to suit the regency style. I hope your own preparations are coming along to your satisfaction. Mick and I will be going to Bath to attend some of the events at the 'Jane Austen Festival'. Here we hope to source some of the gentleman's outfits.
August: I have been busy making the table clothes and centre pieces to decorate the venue tables. There are 28 tables in total. In the ballroom there will be 12 rectangular tables that will sit 6 people each and 10 round tables which will sit 8 people. In the first oval room where the bar is there will be 6 more round tables.
The doors will open at 6.30pm. A cloakroom is available.
The evening's entertainment will start at 7.00pm with country dancing ably co-ordinated by our local Ceilidh band. The supper dance will end this session of the evening and the opportunity to help yourselves to a sumptuous buffet will then commence at 9pm. There will be a break in the musical entertainment while people enjoy sampling the various dishes on offer. This may also be an opportunity to take those group photos. A young photographer has kindly offered to take these, some pictures being posted on the blog after the event.
The evening will then be taken to its close at midnight by the 'Oscar Bernhardt Ensemble', a 1940s/1950s swing band.
Tickets for this event can be obtained from Liz Carling at £40 per head. Please contact Liz for payment details. Liz can be emailed onher regular e-mail or:

Dress Code
Not strict
It would be fun to see people arrive in regency costume, be it Jane Austen's 'high waisted' empire line dresses or Waterloo military attire, but the organisers are well aware not everyone likes to dress up. Tuxedos, black tie (white cravat) and tails and evening ball gowns are equally suitable. Whatever you choose to wear just come and join in the fun.
